Hutch Transformation, from blah to beautiful!

So I had this cabinet, it had side, and door fronts of glass all around. We removed all the glass and the front door. I saved the inlays so I could use them on the sides. I painted the cupboard with Dixie Belle's Honky Tony Red. But before waxed it, I used a Prima- Redesign transfer called "Imperial Garden"...on the back board. Then Ruby wax from The Chippy Barn was applied.  Wax was applied using a chip brush and completely brushed over the entire whole piece.

I spray painted the inlays with Rust- Oleum Universal Metallic Paint & Primer in the Dark Steel. I matched the metal color on the metal tin strips that I attached with self driving metal screws.

This is a great punch of color for the Purple House on the Corner!

Fleur fancy for a fresh look!

I have been so consumed with The Purple House on the Corner. This has been an exciting remodel for me.  Painting inside and now getting ready to do the outside.   I’m loving the transfer on my fireplace. I’m loving the black walls too. The finish line is in site!

How to give an antique lampshade a makeover

So you have some dingy lampshades laying around where you are in a state of confusion on what to do with them??? This is a great and simple makeover, using a little spray paint and those beautiful Edison type light bulbs for character.

I used the Watco acrylic spray to prime my piece and to keep the rust from pushing through. Then I sprayed the frame with the Rust-oleum gloss black for the color.  The simplicity of it all can make for a fun decor statement!

Remember to paint the harp and lamp were the bulb is, to make sure all everything coordinates (*see the red arrow with the text notation in one of the images below).

Makeover for a beautiful swan leg table

"The swan was sacred to Venus, the goddess of love in Roman mythology A swan symbolizes grace and beauty on many levels. It is associated with love, music, and poetry. "

This table is oozing in character.  It was totally talking to me! I sanded the top with my electric sander to uncover the veneer on top. I then rubbed the top and apron with Voo Doo Gel Stain. Then I allowed the stain to dry, and I also used my heat gun to speed up the drying process.

In this first post and video, I used milk paint, junkyard goddess, ethereal.
I’m letting it dry overnight and then I will do second coat and next video later.

How to stencil a quote on a table.

"Oh the life of a bee to hum his own song all day long"

I love this quote so much that I had it made into a stencil so I can apply to my table that sits on my front porch.  Using DIY Golden Ticket for the stencil color accent.  Wise Owl Black Cherry is the color on the table.  It a sweet piece, I'm in love!

Mid-century dresser set gets a boho look

This is one of my favorite pieces, not to mention my daughter has her eye on it to acquire for herself.  The video included in this post shows how to accent your stencils with gold leaf sheets.  I really enjoyed working on this set and think that the different shades of colors work great together.
