Fancy & Ornate Victorian Entry Table Makeover

This elegant marble top table has been passed down through three generations.  It got a fresh updated makeover!  Painting the base black really made the veins of the marble pop, and highlight the beauty in this piece.  I love the ornate detailing within the wood base of this table. Detailing it some with light sanding using a foam block, distresses it perfectly to make the wood peek through the black paint, highlighting it's curves, history, and character of of being a vintage Victorian piece.  I ❤️ this piece!!

Here is what I used on the entire project:
  • Chakra by Junkyard Goddess Milk Paint
  • Hemp oil to finish

How to paint lampshades for a fresh new look

This sweet lampshade was painted in Vintage Duck Egg Blue with Dixie Belle chalk paint.  The finishing touches of birds, branches and blooms using IOD stamps, bring about this makeover to a style transformation that will have you running to your storage room to dig out that old dingy lampshade, and create your own masterpiece.

I found two of these matching drum lampshades at a second hand store, and can picture them hanging from the ceiling over the side tables in a bedroom.  I ❤️ them so much, it is hard for me to not keep them for myself instead of selling them! They are nice and tall and made of silk. I felt I was lucky enough to scoop up a pair, so I wanted to do something really special with them.

Here is what I used on the entire project:

  • Vintage Duck Egg Blue by Dixie Belle.
  • Warm accent Dixie Belle colors of Chocolate, Pine Cone, Buttercream, In The Navy, Plum Crazy, Palmetto, Collard Greens & Vintage Duck Egg Blue.
  • IOD stamp images.
  • Dixie Belle Gold Metallic for the upper rim of the lamp shade.

Chalk paint for a vintage classic makeover

Hey everyone! This beauty was a commission piece. It was a vintage dresser that had been in her family and she wanted to use it in her den. We removed the drawers so down the road they could be easily replaced. Now it is converted into a media stand. Enough room on top for tv and I turned the top drawers into shelves to house the media players.

Here is what I used on the entire project:
  • In the Navy by Dixie Belle
  • Dixie Belle's Flat Top Coat
  • Removed the damaged top veneer, then sanded & re-stained
  • Replaced the knobs with beautiful gold leafed antique pulls
  • Decoupaged the drawer sides & inside with a coordinating paper

A guide to Milk Paint application

Milk Paint, Tea, and Coffee talk, oh yeah!

Just gazing at this particular vintage piece once it arrived at my studio, got me all warm and fuzzy inside.  In my mind, I could picture exactly what it needed to look like.  I was biting at the bit to get this project rolling, but knew I had to wait patiently to dive in until everyone got back from the Labor Day holiday.

Some of you might not know this, but in the beginning of my painting career,  milk paint was my initial "go to paint" for projects.  Doing this project brought back that passion I have for the simple characteristics that this paint offers.

When Junkyard Goddess proposed a giveaway to promote her line of wonderful milk paints, I jumped right on it, and said "yes, lets do this, I'm in!"  This product speaks for itself... it's easy to use and produces wonderful results!

One thing I should mention, I don’t drink coffee. I'm a Teatotaler, LOL!!

Here is what I used on the entire project:

  • Junkyard Goddess Milk Paint, Ethereal.
  • Hemp oil.
  • Glitter wax.
  • Vinyl was applied on the mirror.
